happy halloween!!

happy halloween everyone!!

i'm not really into all of the scary stuff that comes with halloween, like haunted houses and stuff. but i do love all of the cute and unique costumes! i love it even more now that i get to dress addison up!

we're planning on going to the park tonight to do their trick or treating thing. i don't think addison would do very well going door to door, so this seemed like the better option. we'll probably just hand out candy after that!

yesterday addison and i had a lazy day and cuddled a lot. and it was fantastic! i miss the days when she would cuddle all the time. i took advantage of her cuddly mood yesterday. she cuddle all morning while we watched mickey mouse clubhouse. we went to the park to watch little p play soccer. big p was there and addison had lots of fun playing with her! we ran a few errands and picked up icees after, which addison and i both love. then she cuddled lots more when we got home!

oh, and she pigged out at dinner last night. i'm thinking she's going through a growing spurt. we went to eat mexican and she ate some tortilla that she dipped in cheese dip, almost a whole cheese quesadilla, and lots of rice. then when we got home she had some ice cream and screamed when i tried to take her out of her seat after she finished that, so she had a few cookies too. she was a little piggy.

i'll post pictures of addison in her halloween costume and other fun halloween things tomorrow! she's going to be a fairy like she was at ghouls at grassmere. and i may even dress up :)

i hope everyone has a fun and safe halloween! and i hope you all get lots of yummy candy :)

carving pumpkins

tuesday night we carved pumpkins.

addison played with her little pumpkin and colored for a while. then she got restless and so chris let her help carve his pumpkin. she didn't really help, but she thought she was!

i had to show the pictures of addison eating her yogurt. she's so messy, but so cute. apparently she thinks her hand is a spoon.

now on to the pumpkins. i think we did pretty good! there's a skull and crossbones, a flamingo, an elmo, and a witch. can you guess who carved what?

chris carved this one...

my mom carved this one (she loves flamingos)...

i did this one for my granny...

and i did this one since addison love elmo!

we had a few breakages. my mom's flamingo fell out, but she was able to fix it with toothpicks. my elmo also fell apart. i was very upset. but my mom repaired him :)

i never realized how quickly they rot. i was expecting them to last until halloween, but i don't think that's going to happen. guess we'll have to procrastinate next year.

pumpkin patch

attempt number 1:

i really wanted to take addison to a pumpkin patch this year, and so did chris. so over my fall break, we decided to take her. chris was off that tuesday (which is when i usually have class), so we thought it would be good to go that day because it wouldn't be that crowded.

well, it wasn't very crowded. wait. it wasn't crowded at all. because we were the only people there! yes, it was closed.

it was about 35-40 minutes away, and i didn't even think to look and see when the place was open.

major fail.

attempt number 2:

much more successful than the first! i actually looked up their hours to make sure we wouldn't make another wasted trip.

it was pretty crowded, but we expected that since we went on sunday.

the weather was really nice. it felt really good. it was very overcast and looked like it might rain, but never did while we were there.

addison loved running around on the hay. she sunk into it a little, so i think that made it fun for her.

she especially loved the little pumpkin patch they had. there were mini pumpkins for the kids to take. she would pick one up and walk with it for a minute and then find another she liked and trade them out.

they had an area with a bunch of farm animals.

addison was a little weary when she went to pet the pig, but he didn't bite!

the goats were apparently really hungry! one of the little ones ran up and started to drink and then the other one attacked too!

i love these things. chris had to hold addison up for it though. i can't wait until she's taller and can stand up and poke her head out by herself. that way i can be in the picture too :)

addison liked the donkey too. he even licked her hands. which were promptly wiped off before she could stick them in her mouth.

and we always have to have a mommy-daughter picture :)

they had a huge corn maze that we didn't even go near. but they did have a little kiddy corn maze that we went through with addison. she had fun running around. she fell and got a boo boo. she cried for maybe a second and then was off again.

they had a pumpkin launcher thing. they launched one right after we got there. it scared me to death when it went off. i just wasn't expecting it to be that loud. i tried to get pictures, but there were sooooo many people.

the one thing i was disappointed about was the corn box thing. i was so excited to have addison play in a big thing of corn, but the corn box they had was tiny. seriously, tiny. maybe i can find a place with a bigger one next year :)

all in all, it was really fun. and addison had fun, which was all that mattered!

wee bit wednesdays

{one} have you ever seen a ghost?
i haven't seen a ghost, but supposedly my great-grandmother's old house was haunted (i guess you'd call it that). the man who built it was buried right by the house and they said he would come at night and open and close the cabinets in the kitchen. i think it's true, and i remember hearing it one night when i was younger.

{two} when was the last time you dressed up for halloween?
it's been a few years. but now i get to dress addison up with is so much better!

{three} what’s your favorite candy?
all of it. does that count? i love reese's, blow pops, skittles, pretty much any candy!

{four} did you have a favorite costume growing up?
i loved my dorothy from wizard of oz costume and my little poodle skirt costume.

{five} did you carve pumpkins this year?
we actually did that last night! i'm going to post pictures soon :)

{six} what’s your favorite scary movie?
well i don't like scary movies, so i don't have a favorite. i remember watching the ring and saw and not being able to sleep. so no more scary movies for me!

{seven} haunted houses or corn mazes?
corn mazes. i did haunted houses when i was younger (i think i only went to 2) and i hated it. i remember the first one i went to, they had chainsaws and the guy swiped at my legs as i was leaving and it scared me so bad.

{eight} are you superstitious?
nope.

{nine} have you ever owned a black cat?
nope. but i think i hit one the other night when i was driving home :( i'm hoping it was a skunk though.

{ten} what are you plans for this coming halloween?
i'm planning on taking addison trick-or-treating for a little bit. and maybe handing out candy after we're done.
