little bits of happiness

i thought i'd give little bits of happiness a try this week.

i took this little girl to 2 movies this week.

we went to see madagascar 3 on sunday. we met one of addison's friends from school and her mom there. they ware SO funny together. it makes me so happy to see addison with her little friends. the movie was really cute, and the girls had a blast! i liked the movie, but i think i had more fun watching them play together {until the end when it was nap time and they both fed off of each others fussiness and it just wasn't pretty. but i'll just forget about that part.}

addison and her baby.

we also saw happy feet 2 on tuesday. there are $1 movies on tuesdays and wednesdays for a few weeks this summer, so i thought we'd try that out. we met up with one of my friends and her little boy. addison says he's her baby and tells people all about him. but he really isn't a baby anymore. they play 2 movies both days at 10 am. i think they're doing it all over, not just in tennessee. so you should check out the theaters and movies and see if there's one near you! i had to select the state because it wouldn't work with my zip code. we will definitely be taking advantage of the movies this summer!

linking up with stephanie for little bits of happiness.

steppin out saturday - movie in the park

saturday, we stepped out to a movie in the park.

they were playing the smurfs {yay! slight sarcasm here}.

i was excited to take addison for a fun, free night.

they had games and chickfila cows running around and music before the movie started, and addison loved every minute of it!

on addison: dress, h&m // shoes, thrifted
on me: tank, target // shorts, j crew // shoes, rainbows

linking up with steppin out saturday at harper's happenings.

while the park is really close {like, walking distance}, we drove over. it was on the other side of the park and i had a bag and 2 chairs to carry. not to mention addison.

addison played games, danced her little booty off, and ended up making a couple little friends.

seriously. she sat with her legs crossed. who is this little girl and what did she do with my baby??

by the time the movie started {which was around addison's bed time}, addison was getting a little tired. she wanted to sit in my lap, which i was more than happy to allow. it had gotten a little chilly, and i had just brought her a blanket. we shared some skittles and cuddled up.

we ended up leaving about an hour into the movie. some other families had already left, so we weren't the only party poopers.

addison and i both had a blast! it's definitely fun getting to do special things together, just me and her.

ticket for one

yesterday, i had a first.

i saw a movie.

all by myself.

i'm not going to lie. i was kind of looking forward to it.

i took some grapes and cheese for a snack. and some water. i thought about taking wine, but then i thought that it may be a little early in the day to drink {but really, is it ever too early to drink??}.

it was a matinee movie {on a monday, no less}, so i knew there was a possibility that i'd be the only one in there. and that would have been pretty cool. i could've done anything i wanted!! not that there was anything excited i wanted to do in a movie theater by myself.

but, there were 2 other girls in the theater when i got there. and 2 older ladies came in later and sat behind me.

the movie didn't look all that great. but i had finished the book the night before and really wanted to see it.

it wasn't really that bad. it had cheesy moments. i found myself rolling my eyes every time there was a romantic scene. but that's just me, i think.

sitting right in front of the old ladies was entertaining. they were about my granny's age. and they had clearly read the books, because they were chatting throughout the movie. just little things. it was especially funny during the steamy scenes. it felt awkward sitting close to them during those. but funny at the same time, because they had read the books.

this was the first nicholas sparks book/movie that i didn't cry reading/watching. i'm seriously a softy when it comes to books and movies. but this one didn't make me cry. i kind of felt that it was an accomplishment. go me!!

i definitely don't think it will be the last time i go to the movie by myself. it was really relaxing. i do prefer to have friends with me, but something it's nice to just be all by yourself.

now off to find some other books to read!

addison's first movie

addison went to her first movie a few weekends ago.

we went with my mom and 2 of my friends {maegen and haley}.

what did we see, you ask?

lion king, of course!!

in 3D, of course!!

that is the only picture i took. and it was before i realized that they gave us kid 3D glasses, so she was wearing adult ones.

we got popcorn {what's a movie without some good, buttery popcorn??} and we were set. although addison did get some lovely buttery fingerprints on her glasses, so we had to wipe them off a few times. it was hard to see through the butter.

addison was SO good. there were a lot of other kids there, so i wasn't really worried about her talking a little. she would say "he's in trouble" and "he's sad" and "he's happy" throughout the movie whenever something would happen to simba. but that was about it. she just sat there and ate a TON of popcorn and watched the movie!

i haven't seen it in forever and i had forgotten how good it is. i was singing along the whole time. and yes, i cried when mufasa died.

it was a great first movie experience, and i can't wait to take her to see more!! it gives me an excuse to see kid movies that i want to see, but feel weird going to see as an adult. i think the next one will be happy feet 2.

goosebumps

i've always been a fan of Nicholas Sparks. i read A Walk to Remember and The Notebook years ago, and i loved the books as well as the movies.

when i saw a preview for Dear John and learned it was based off a book by Nicholas Sparks, i decided i wanted to read it. i've been anticipating the movie coming out for a while, even before reading the book.

well, i finally read the book. it took me 3 days to read it. i just started reading a couldn't stop.

another thing i couldn't stop doing was cry. the book just made me cry and cry and cry.

i hate books that make me cry like that, but i really loved the book. i guess me and Nicholas Sparks have a love/hate relationship.

i'm a big fan of books with happy endings. this book didn't have my definition of a fairytale ending, even though i wanted it to. i found myself making up an ending that would make me happy, but i really couldn't. i just kept going back to what actually happened.

i sometimes wonder why books can make me so emotional. i know they aren't based on true stories, so i don't really know why i get so sad. i try to tell myself that it didn't really happen, but it doesn't help. i get so wrapped up in the book that i feel like it's really happening and i just get so emotional!

i've seen the preview for Dear John 50 bzillion times already. and surprisingly, it doesn't get old. i watch it every time i hear it coming on. and every single time i get goosebumps. i guess it's because i know everything that happens. sometimes i feel like i'm going to cry while watching the 2 minute preview. sad, i know.

friday i'm going to see the movie and get it over with. i say get it over with as if i'm not excited. i'm really excited, but i know i'm going to cry. a lot. so i'm kind of ready to get the crying over with.

i'm going with one of my friends from my biology class. she's the one who told me Dear John was a book and told me i needed to read it. so we're going together, and we'll probably both be crying together. hopefully she doesn't mind sniffles!!

i'll make sure to let you know how the movie is. all of the Nicholas Sparks books that have been made into movies are pretty much exactly like the book, which i really like. i don't really like when movies are changed and don't really follow the book. we'll see how this one goes!

tv shows and movies

i'm the kind of person that watches the same shows every week. i have my list of shows and stick to them. i remember watching gilmore girls and 7th heaven every week with my mom. i guess that's when it started.

so, i bet you're wondering which shows i watch. well, even if you weren't wondering, i'm going to tell you anyway :)

source

last season was the first season i watched the biggest loser. i'm totally addicted. we watched every episode last season and we have watched the first 2 episodes this season. i'm so excited! i love watching the contestants transform and i get kind of emotional. it's kind of weird. but i like it!

source

ahhh. i love glee! i love love love singing! the sound of music is one of my favorite movies and glee is like the sound of music, but a show! and it's new and funny. i love it!

source

last season, i only wanted to watch the first part of american idol. it was very entertaining. seeing all of the bad singers just made me laugh. and then the few good ones made it even better. but we kept watching it last season and ended up watching every episode. and the new season just started tonight, and it was hilarious! can't wait for tomorrow night!

source

oh, drama drama drama. there has to be a show with a lot of drama! and the real housewives is that show. i started watching orange county first, then new jersey. i don't really like new york or atlanta, though. new jersey is just funny. they are pretty crazy and the show is full of drama. and i like watching drama!

there are also a few movies i really want to see. i'm not sure if i'll actually go see them in the theatre, but i'll definitely watch them when they come out on dvd.

i saw a preview for dear john when i saw new moon at midnight. then i found out it was a book, and chris got me the book for christmas. it looks really good, and i've read 2 nicholas sparks books before. i really loved them, and the movies that were made based on those books. so i need to get reading because the movie comes out on february 5th!

i randomly watched oprah one day and most of the actors from the movie nine were on the show. i didn't know anything about the movie, and i decided to watch the show. i really want to see this movie! i loved moulin rouge, and nicole kidman is in nine too. like i said earlier, i love movies and shows with singing. and this movie has the singing. can't wait to see it!

i think this is the movie i'm looking forward to most. there are SO many people in this movie! it's crazy. it comes out february 12th, and i think i'll go that day! i've seen 4 previews just today and it looks so good!

so, that's my breakdown of shows and movies!

what are some of your favorite shows? are there any movies you can't wait to see?

new moon

spoiler alert!!
there may be information about the book/movie in this post. just a warning!!

wow. i'm so tired. i didn't get home until almost 3 and i couldn't fall asleep after that. ughhh. i would love to take a nap this afternoon but i doubt that's going to happen. i have so much to get done for addison's birthday tomorrow!

anywho, back to the movie.

wow.

really wow.

i'll start from the beginning of the night. so we got to restaurant (that's attached to the theater) at 9. and we looked in the theater and people were already lined up. really?? well, we wanted to eat still, so we went and ate. we didn't go to get in line until 10, and there wasn't much of a line. so we were pretty happy.

then we learned that they were already letting people in the theater we were watching the movie in. so some people went in to get us seats together and me and a few others stayed out. well, we had a ticket dilemma. i thought the ticket lady had taken one of my tickets, and i was scared for some reason i wasn't going to be able to go in. but once a few people went in, my friend brought me an extra stub out and we went in. ok, i don't want people thinking i snuck into a movie. i did buy 8 tickets and there were 8 people.

once we got in the movie, at 10:30 i might add, we just hung out. people would slowly come in. then i had to go to the bathroom and so i needed a ticket. i asked my friend for hers, and attached to hers was the extra one. dilemma solved!

the night goes on and 12:00 comes around. the theater is full, and some people start coming in still. there were 2 girls that came in and they said they wanted to sit together. really?? you come in at 12:00 for a 12:10 movie that you know is going to be packed and try to make people move around for you to sit together? well, i don't know what happened, but i was kind of irritated by them. maybe it's just cause i was so tired.

ok, so 12:10 comes around. and the movie didn't start....

and it didn't start....

and it finally started!!!

everyone was so excited.

i was so excited.

the movie went along with the book a whole lot better than twilight. but new moon was my least favorite of the books, so i was kind of torn.

i did like the movie a lot. but i did miss the fun scenes from twilight, like the baseball scene. that was my favorite.

there were a lot of action scenes, but there weren't many vampires throughout the movie. if you have read the books, you know why.

and i like vampires.

don't get me wrong, i do like werewolves, but vampires are my favorite.

when i was reading the book, it was such a drag. i seriously had to skip to the end to make sure vampires came back.

in the middle of the movie, the theater lights came on and the movie stopped. everyone freaked out. i was so tired so i didn't really care. then it started again, then stopped. it did that again and then it finally came back on. this lasted about 5 minutes, and was kind of annoying. but it was ok. the movie was still fantastic!

so, the movie all together was really good. the acting was better, the special effects were better. kristen stewart looked a whole lot better this movie. her acting was better (but i still don't really like her) and she looked more feminine.

now, if you've read all the books, i don't really think there is a team edward/team jacob issue. in new moon, i totally see how some people are team jacob. my heart ached for jacob during the movie. is that weird? but in the last book, jacob finds someone else. so it's not like he goes on running after bella.

just read the books!! movies are so much better if you've read the books. you know what's going to happen and you can pick up on the small things that other people can't see.

oh, and i kind of feel bad for robert pattinson. they had a preview for a new movie of his and the whole time i was thinking 'that's edward'. i don't think he's ever going to get out of that. whenever is see him, all i think is edward. and he acts the same in all the movies, so you can't really tell a difference. poor guy. maybe he'll break out of it. but i don't really think so. at least he has twilight!!

well, that's my new moon review. it's not really a movie review as much as what i think of everything twilight. i can't wait for eclipse to come out. i heard that it's coming out in may. really? that would be totally awesome.

who knows how many times i'll go see new moon. i saw twilight 5 times, so maybe i'll stick with that for new moon :)

omg. OMG. OMG!!!!

tonight is the night!! i'm so excited!!

i went to get tickets a while ago, and i was kind of scared they would be sold out. at the theater by my house, they have 5 showings of new moon tonight. 3 @ 12:01 and 2 @ 12:10. i ended up getting tickets for the 12:10 because the 12:01 showings were almost sold out. i went back monday to get 2 more tickets for other people that wanted to go...

so tonight we're meeting up at 9. yes, 9. which is 3 hours before the movie starts. but we're meeting at a restaurant by the theater and we're going to eat dinner and just hang out until we want to go get in line.

i asked the girl that works at the theater what time she thought we should get there. she said that for harry potter, people started lining up an hour and a half before the movie. so we are going to just wait at the restaurant until people start lining up, and then go get in line. hopefully we will be able to sit together!!

i'm so excited, as you can tell. i'll let you know in the morning how the movie was! but i'm sure it'll be great!!

new moon

i'm really not a fan of the MTV movie awards, but i watched it for one reason. the new moon preview. one of the MTV awards (who can keep up with them all. they have so many) gave the first look at new moon a while ago. of course i watched that too. i am kind of obsessed. i saw twilight 5 times. and i didn't even think it was that good. i just loved the book, so i wanted to see the movie...a lot. i can't imagine how many times i'm going to see new moon.

supposedly, new moon is going to premiere early in knoxville at the big theater there. and they say the actors are going to be there. they haven't said which ones, and i have no clue how to get tickets. but i really want to go. and some of my friends want to go too. a few of them live in knoxville, so that's quite convenient for me. we'll see how that works out.

here's the a link to the trailer from the MTV movie awards. i'm soooooo excited!!!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KqAA2HZhgNU

if you haven't read the books, you really should. it makes some parts of the movie have meaning that wouldn't have if you hadn't read about it.

oh, and here's a fun fact. addison was born the same day that twilight came out in theaters!
